Role Title: Lecturer in Brickwork (Foundation Learning Directorate)

Salary: £33,596 – £51,932 (Upper pay range points UP2 and UP3 are subject to evidence of previous progression to Upper Pay Spine)

We currently have a vacancy for a Brickwork Lecturer in the Foundation Learning Directorate of Coleg Cambria, based at our Bersham Road site in Wrexham. 

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lecturer in Foundation Skills to join our team at Coleg Cambria. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of the vocational brickwork qualification to Level 1 learners.

This role encompasses both theoretical and practical brickwork sessions, focusing on developing the core knowledge and skills required for the trade. In addition to delivering the vocational curriculum, the successful candidate will also be responsible for leading enrichment and employability sessions, as well as providing personal tutorials to support learner progress and development.

It will also be your responsibility to provide continuous wrap-around support to increase engagement and progression for learners with barriers to learning.  

Essential Requirements

  • Proven extensive experience within brickwork ideally in both a domestic and commercial environment
  • Able to prepare effective written and visual teaching materials
  • Able to deal promptly and effectively with inappropriate behaviour in the classroom
  • A minimum of a Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g Cert Ed/PGCE) or be working towards a Level 5 teaching qualification
  • Educated to a minimum Level 3 qualification
  • Awareness of the importance of quality standards within teaching
  • Demonstrate an understanding of current developments within your own specialist area and ways of keeping up to date with such developments
  • Knowledge of the broad range of learning needs and how to support these needs within a learning environment
  • Be able to analyse and use key information to inform teaching and learning.
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to and awareness of the importance of Safeguarding

Welsh Language skills are an essential requirement for this role, however Welsh learners* with the ability to reach a level 3/4 within a 18 months to 2 year period are also encouraged to apply. Welsh learners will need to be at Level 2 and demonstrate a commitment to achieving fluency. Coleg Cambria are committed to supporting this development through a tailored professional development plan). A Welsh Language skills assessment will form part of the selection process to identify competence, confidence and suitability for a development plan.

Welsh skills are essential for this specific post. We are seeking candidates who can help us grow our bilingual provision and service.
